	Insurance Options
	USCA: The United States Canoe Association works hard to keep their canoe & kayak event insurance affordable for member event organizers. Current rate for 2008 has gone down to $3.75 per paddler. - More Info - Aware of other options? Let me know at tallenhome@yahoo.com and I will add it to this list!
	State Guidelines/Permits
	Connecticut: A Marine Event Permit Application must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the date of the proposed event.

Best Practices

Safety and Courtesy Standards (Encouraged for all races, but especially our Point Series races)

Hold a pre-race meeting where the course is briefly described, starts explained, PFD policy explained and note made of any hazards.
Race directors or timers should remain at the finish line until every racer has finished. There should be a system for making sure that the course is clear of racers at the end of the race.
An awards ceremony should be held where racers' times are made available.
Race results should be posted on PaddlersConnection within 3-4 days of the race.
